Well, I'm uploading something in here for Katey, so I figure I may as well update this damn thing since I've grown to be so crappy at it. There actually has been something eating at me that I was hesitant to share on here for reasons I shared in my last post, but...I think I'll completely disregard good sense because this is so disgraceful I have to share it.

Let me start by saying that I'm not making any judgment about global warming and, frankly, I don't care what your opinion is on the matter. I'm staying out of it. Nor do I care about your feelings on Al Gore. What I have to say deals directly with Gore winning the Nobel (political) Peace Prize (in addition to his Oscar and Grammy...no, seriously, he won all three last year!).

Here's a few items to note, even if Global Warming is 100% fact:

  • What in the name of Zeus's butthole does global warming have to do with peace?
  • It's not like he did the research; he narrated a slide show.
  • The day after winning an Oscar, the Tennessee Center for Policy Research uncovered that Gore's Nashville home consumed 20 times more electricity than the average American home.
  • Afraid of the bad press, Gore scurried to make his home more "green." The result? It devours 1,638 kWh more energy each month than it did.
  • Gore's home consumes an average of 17,768 kWh per month, compared to the average American home that consumes 11,040 kWh per year!
  • While the hypocrite is worse than all the rest of us by a long shot, he did manage to increase his personal wealth by an estimated $100 million from milking his role as environmental crusader.

Now why do I care? Well, what everybody seems to forget is that in order for this jackass to win, others had to lose. Putting aside the real, but relatively small, tragedy of the Oscar and Grammy winners he robbed, he took the Nobel Peace Prize from a true hero in Irena Sendler. Ms. Sendler passed away this year at 98 years old, with little to no recognition in the common vernacular because the peace prize went to the narrator of a questionable environmental film.

So what did she do that what was so special? She only saved thousands of lives during the Holocaust...you know, no big deal. Sendler and her helpers used falsified documents to help over 3,000 families before becoming head of the Zegota children's division and saving over 2,500 children from the Warsaw Ghetto, only to be caught be the Gestapo and survive. BIG DEAL!!! She only saved several thousand lives! How many politically-motivated films has she narrated?

We all owe Irena Sendler an enormous apology on behalf of all of humanity, and a giant middle finger to Al Gore. That's an inconvenient truth.

Okay, so I'm a terrible updater as usual. The biggest problem I always have is time, of course, but it's not the only one. Another big issue is that of perception. Unfortunately, many people hold grudges about what they perceive to be right or wrong. For instance, I've called the Patriots a pack of filthy cheaters several times on this website. Now, while there might not be a ton of people that come here, plenty visit TarniusMusic.com. So if somebody thinks the Patriots are little angels, they might take it out on my business and the great musicians I support. Fair? Nope. Realistic? Yep.

Perhaps not as much with sports (though I don't doubt it would happen), but especially with "hotter" topics. Now I'm not going to touch the presidential race with a ten foot pole for the very reason I'm mentioning, but let's use it as an example. If I say I support Candidate A, many of Candidate B's supporters will instantly distance themselves from me and everything I touch, including but not limited to my business that has zero to do with politics. Or even if I said that I don't support Candidate A, with no mention of Candidate B (maybe I hate them both!), the supporters of Candidate B might retaliate.

Now don't get me wrong, if an owner or CEO of a company puts big money into a cause I'm against or uses their power to sway public opinion in a similar fashion, I'll be the first to stop giving them my business. But I have to be very careful about what I print here (I know how many hits this site gets and let me tell you - I'm not swaying any public opinion!) or on my Facebook page that is intended only for my friends, etc. There's no anonymity anymore and it sucks!

Being a big Dostoevsky fan, I always love how he handled this issue. I've been reading his "Diary of a Writer" and it's hysterical how just about every issue has him running into a stranger or having a discussion with the passengers on a train. Amazingly enough, those people are always saying something controversial and Dostoevsky rarely speaks during the conversation and remembers it word for word. Isn't that interesting? (the preceding statement was dripping with so much sarcasm that it may have slid to the bottom of the screen...apologies).

So maybe from now on I'll start having more updates, but they'll contain really bitter and controversial conversations with random strangers. I'll just share their opinion with you, that couldn't hurt anything, right? Yeah, I wouldn't buy it either. I'm no Dostoevsky and current events piss me off too much to hide behind somebody else. I guess if you want to know how I feel you'll have to come hang out with me and we'll talk to whole thing over.

By the way, for the record I support **********, I don't believe in **********, and the ********** amendment is the most important to me.

Damn intelligentsia. They censored me.

I have to get a quick sports post in again…and it’s not even for Baseball like some might think, or perhaps about the Bulls’ first pick…nope.  It’s not even about a team I like.  In fact, it’s about a team I have openly hated for a very long time, namely the New England Cheaters.

I just wanted this noted in writing.  Today is June 26th, and it has been eating me since I saw it this past Tuesday (June 24th), long before teams have even started their full training camps…ESPN analysts predicted that the NE Cheaters would win the championship this season.  That’s right, the championship that’s going to happen next January, concluding the season that doesn’t even start for another two and a half months.  This is the same cluster of jackasses that has completely looked the other way about the fact that the team has been caught cheating on several occasions.  I hate cheaters.  Being a die-hard Bears fan, if they got caught cheating I’d be furious with the entire organization….and the media would too!  Oh, but not their little darlings in New England!

So what could precede such a brash prediction?  Well maybe they won last year?  Nope.  The year before?  Nope.  Okay, well maybe it was luck last year…let’s assume for the sake of argument that they were the greatest team ever (they weren’t…they’re notorious cheaters and were gift-wrapped at least 2 games by the league so they could get ratings for a “perfect” season).  So maybe being so “great” last year, it’s a warranted prediction…well let’s examine a few items from the offseason:

  1. They lost draft picks as their slap-on-the-wrist punishment for their latest cheating offense.
  2. They lost several key members of their secondary to free agency and other factors, severely depleting their defense.
  3. Their running back was arrested for marijuana possession, and could face suspension.  The media has all but ignored this.
  4. Their offensive tackle was arrested for dealing drugs and only pleaded down by wearing a wire for the feds.  The media has all but ignored this.
  5. More information about MORE PRIOR CHEATING surfaced in relation to them video-taping opponents to get an edge…then they were let off and the media ignored it.  Hmm, noticing a pattern?
  6. More information surfaced about them cheating in a new way!  They were using players in their practices that were supposed to be ineligible due to injury (against the rules).  So far they have been let off and the media has all but ignored it, but they could still face league action.

So, you see, how could they not predict a championship?  After all, they’re older, they’re missing players, they couldn’t get as many younger replacement players because of their previous cheating, several other key players could face suspensions, and they’re going to have a harder time cheating because they’ve been caught so many times recently…they’re a SHOE IN!!!!

The year after the Bears lost the championship, do you think anybody would predict them winning if Brian Urlacher got caught with drugs or Olin Kruetz was wearing a wire for the feds, or for that matter if they had been caught cheating several times the previous two or three years?  Not likely.

Sports fans should email national broadcasters and Roger Goodell for their reprehensible forgiveness of a team that has tainted a game we spend so much time and money on.  By continuing to look the other way, they’re enabling the cheaters to prosper and the game to lose its credibility.  New England fans should be the angriest, as your team has lost all credibility in the eyes of the fans and your Lombardi trophies are now tainted.  Don’t buy their merchandise, don’t watch their games, and tell the broadcasters as much!

I know it’s been a while since my last update, but I’ve really had no time to even sleep let alone update websites. I was insanely busy trying to push this latest Tarnius Music Artist Showcase, and I think it was pretty damn successful! The show last Saturday was a ton of fun, we had a great crowd out at Reggie’s Music Joint, and the bands were terrific.

Thanks to all those who helped make that possible. Katey, TJ, Mike, and Vic were a tremendous help in making that show as successful as possible. Brendan, the promoter at Reggie’s, was a blast to work with and made everything easy. All the musicians involved put on an awesome show, helped themselves out by helping promote the show, and were easy as could be to work with. Finally, the crowd was unreal. Everybody got into each act, people bought raffle tickets and music supporting the bands…it was just great.

So thanks to one and all, maybe I can get some sleep now….but I doubt it.
